Allegedly, there was a problem when the Indian authorities. They noticed that Xiaomi India was paying license fees for Qualcomm USA, and for Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co. Ltd. However, these fees are not added as value transactions.
So due to the fact that they did not add these fees as value transactions. In this way Xiaomi India did not pay customs duties on imported smartphones.
Xiaomi India has received three notifications, asking to pay taxes and fees in the amount of 88 million US dollars, which is approximately 6.6 billion rupees.
